It is estimated that over 520,000 people, or around 3.04% of the Netherlands’ total population, currently own cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrencies Market Sentiment in the Netherlands​

As of February 2018, a survey showed the growing demand for cryptocurrencies in the Netherlands, with Bitcoin being among the top choices. Because of its design, it is difficult to get an insight into the full size of the Bitcoin market in individual countries. However, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies made the news frequently in 2017, and approximately 60 percent of households in the Netherlands that invest in cryptocurrencies began doing so then. In the first three quarters of 2017, approximately 44,000 Bitcoin transactions originated in the Netherlands on the BTC Direct platform. In addition, Belgium and the Netherlands have several Bitcoin ATM installations.
